ಗಣಕೀಕರಣ :ಗದಗ-ಬೆಟಗೇರಿ ನಗರಸಭೆಯು ಜನನ ಮತ್ತು ಮರಣ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳನ್ನು 1995 ರಿಂದ ಈ ದಿನದವರೆಗೆ ಗಣಕೀಕೃತಗೊಳಿಸಿದ್ದು ನಾಗರೀಕರು ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ನಾಗರೀಕ ಸೇವಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರದಲ್ಲೆ ಜನನ-ಮರಣ ನೊಂದಣಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಪತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಸೇವಾ ಶುಲ್ಕ ಪಾವತಿಸಿ ಪಡೆಯಬಹುದೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಲು ಹರ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಹಾಗೂ ಇದರ ಬಳಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸದುಪಯೋಗಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೇಂದು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಗದಗ-ಬೆಟಗೇರಿ ನಗರಸಭೆಯು ಆಸ್ತಿ ತೆರಿಗೆ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಣೆಯನ್ನು ಗಣಕೀಕರಣ ಕೆಲಸ ಪ್ರಗತಿಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ.
COMPUTERIZATION: We are very happy to intimate the citizens of Gadag-Betageri city that we have computerized the Birth and Death Records from 1995 to till date under state Government Nirmala Nagar computerization scheme, from now on wards citizens are requested to visit the citizen service centre at the office for registration and getting of Birth and Death certificates by paying service fee. Citizens are requested to make use of this facility.
ಗದಗ-ಬೆಟಗೇರಿ ನಗರದ ಇತಿಹಾಸ: ಗದಗ ಉತ್ತರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಒಂದು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ. ಗದಗ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ಈ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಕೇಂದ್ರ. ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದಿನವರೆಗೂ ಗದಗ, ಧಾರವಾಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿದ್ದಿತು. ಈ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಸುಮಾರು ೧೦ ಲಕ್ಷ. ಗದಗ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯವರಾದ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳೆಂದರೆ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಮಹಾಕವಿ ಕುಮಾರವ್ಯಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಗಾಯಕರಾದ ಗಾನಯೋಗಿ ಪಂಚಾಕ್ಷರಿ ಗವಾಯಿ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಬೆಳೆಗಳು ರಾಗಿ, ಬೇಳೆಗಳು, ನೆಲಗಡಲೆ, ಸೂರ್ಯಕಾಂತಿ, ಹತ್ತಿ, ಈರುಳ್ಳಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ. ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆಯುಳ್ಳ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಎರಡು ಮುಖ್ಯ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಗಳೆ೦ದರೆ ತ್ರಿಕೂಟೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಮತ್ತು ವೀರನಾರಾಯಣನ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ. ಗದಗ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಮುಖ್ಯ ಜೈನ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳು ಸಹ ಇದ್ದು ಪಾರ್ಶ್ವನಾಥ ತೀರ್ಥಂಕರ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಾವೀರನಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಪಿತವಾಗಿವೆ. ಗದಗ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ಬದನೇಕಾಯಿ ಬಜಿ,ಒಗ್ಗರಣೆ ಗಿರ್ಮಿಟ್ ಮತ್ತು ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ ಮಿರ್ಚಿಗೆ ತುಂಬ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ದ. ಒಂದು ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಗದಗ ಶಹರದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲೇ ನಿಂತು ಕಲ್ಲು ತೂರಿದರೂ ಅದು ಯಾವದಾದರೊಂದು ಪ್ರಿಂಟಿಂಗ್ ಪ್ರೆಸ್ ಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಬೀಳುತ್ತದೆಂಬ ಪ್ರತೀತಿ ಇತ್ತು. ಅಷ್ಟೊಂದು ಮುದ್ರಣಾಲಯಗಳು ಗದಗನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವು. ಮುದ್ರಣ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲೇ ಗದಗನ್ನು ಮೀರಿಸಿದವರಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಭೀಷ್ಮ ಕೆರೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡದಾದ ಮತ್ತು ಪುರಾತನ ಕೆರೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಗದಗ ಪುರಾತನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ "ಕೃತಪುರ" ಎಂದು ಖ್ಯಾತಿಗಳಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಭಾರತ ರತ್ನ ಭೀಮಸೇನ ಜೋಶಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿಯವರೇ. ಗದುಗಿನ ಅನೇಕ ಜನ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ಅಂತರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಸರು ಗಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಗದಗ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಟಗೇರಿ ಅವಳಿ ನಗರಗಳು. ಗದಗನ ಮೂಲ ಹೆಸರುಗಳು ಕೃತುಕ, ಕೃತುಪುರ, ಕರಡುಗು ನಂತರ ಗಲದುಗು , ಗದುಗು ಮತ್ತು ಈಗ ಗದಗ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಕಪ್ಪತ ಗುಡ್ಡ ಸಹ ಇದರ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಲ್ಲೇ ಇವೆ.
History of Gadag-Betageri :Gadag-Betageri is one of the 57 Karnataka cities in the Nirmala Nagara - Municipal eGovernance project. On Aug 15th 2005 each of the 57 cities will get a comprehensive website as well as the Public Grievance & Redressal module. Other important modules to be launched by June 2006 are Property Tax, Financial Accounting GIS(Geographical Information System) Mapping, Birth & Death Certification, and Ward Works. Nirmala Nagara project is a partnership between the Urban Development Dept, eGovernments Foundation & Survey of India. These computer based systems coupled with Govt. process re-engineering and GIS(Geographical information system) digital mapping will provide transparency and accountability and smoother delivery of services to citizens of Karnataka.
